The problem

This young family was completely stuck on coming up with a layout for their family room that accomplished everything they wanted to achieve. They also were lost on where to find quality items and ensure they stayed on budget once they had a plan. They wanted to find unique items to compliment their existing art and beautiful area rug.

The dream

Their goal was to create a place they could all unwind in together on evenings and weekends. A place for everyone to sit and room for drinks and snacks for movie night. Another priority was to showcase their beautiful collection of aboriginal art.

The solution

The layout was designed to showcase the beautiful new fireplace and to provide a great space for family movie nights for this family of 5.

Two comfortable leather sofas provide plenty of seating while also creating a great conversation zone. The television was moved to the wall opposite the fireplace on a large entertainment unit that did double duty for storage for board games as well.

Reclaimed wood was brought in for warmth and because it is not too precious to be used by three young children. The unique coffee table mirrored their unique art collection and also provides a great space for a bowl of popcorn and a game of scrabble.

Custom drapery and textured roman blinds were also in the plan and can be added at a later date to complete the look.

Bookcases on either side of the fireplace provide a space to showcase items that should be kept out of reach. Now the fireplace is the focal point it deserves to be.
